This unique process results in a material with a distinctive balance of properties: high strength, excellent barrier protection, and surprising breathability. The structure of flashspun fabric resembles a microscopic maze, preventing the passage of liquids and fine particles while allowing water vapor to escape.
Flashspun technology creates a unique nonwoven fabric characterized by an intricate network of very fine, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fibers. The process involves dissolving HDPE resin in a solvent under high pressure and temperature. When this solution is rapidly “flashed” (spun) into a low-pressure environment, the solvent instantly vaporizes, leaving behind a web of continuous, entangled HDPE filaments.
Forms an effective barrier against liquids, particulates, and even some chemicals, due to its dense, labyrinthine structure.
While blocking liquids, its fibrous structure allows water vapor (perspiration) to pass through, enhancing comfort in protective wear.
Resists abrasion, aging, and many chemical exposures, maintaining integrity over time.
Made from 100% HDPE, flashspun fabrics are often recyclable where appropriate facilities exist.
At the heart of our Flashspun technology lies a commitment to both performance and the planet. We continuously innovate to enhance manufacturing efficiency, minimize environmental impact, and extend the lifecycle of every fabric we produce.
The unique combination of protection and performance makes flashspun fabrics indispensable across a wide array of industries:
